Venice of the North!

Every city in Northern Europe with a river or two in the middle of it is normally referred to (by the local tourist board) as ‘The Venice of the North!”

It’s always post-industrial or post-war places like Birmingham or Hamburg and never beautiful medieval city-states.

In November 2009 Cork had it’s moment as “The Venice of the North!” as the dam up-stream of the city was temporarily manned by one of the drones from sector 7-G.

It was devastating for the people and businesses that were in the path of the flood but it was strangely beautiful the following morning.
